Not a plough in site and rumours of an excavator led us to go for a rotary hoe to dig up the mat of couch grass .
What seemed like an insurmountable task turned into a pretty successful day. Those of us with the biggest muscles pushed/pulled/heaved the rotary hoe to dig up the rows in stages. After about 5 runs along each row, we finally got 5 weed free strips approximately 20 metres long with gaps in between.
Next we diluted some Eco Lime. Due to having only a 500ml bottle available, we needed to spread it a little thinner than the experts advised – TIME FOR FIGURES:
For the first row and a half – 100ml per watering can per half row.
For the last three and a half rows – 50ml per watering can per half row .
The day ended with a great sense of satisfaction and warm team vibes.
Big ups to Per our amazing Facilitator and Dicky ‘Garlic Farmin’ Rochford for their awesome contributions.
